Teacher Introduction
In Planning this WebQuest I wanted students to be able to accomplish many goals. First of all I wanted students to explore more about the Ecosystems of the world, what makes them so unique and what we have to do to protect them. Not only do I want them to learn more about the world six major biomes, I want them to learn more about geography and get interested in parts of the world they may have never thought of going to before. I hope to also introduce students to a few occupations that they may have never thought of before. I did this by having the students pretend they are people of different occupations, for example, Botanist, Animals and Wildlife Expert, Researcher, and Climate Controller (weather professional) and Geographer. Each occupation has a specific responsibility and without their input, the whole project would be incomplete.
I also want to get students more comfortable with using the INTERNET for research. There fore I have included # Websites for them to log onto and get their research from. This WebQuest will also provide students the opportunity to practice writing research papers which will be more involved in Middle School. Although a majority of the information will be done in paper form, there is a requirement of the students to show visuals through preparing an food web, comparing and contrasting through the use of Venn Diagram they have constructed and Maps then have drawn or copied. In making the visuals, by having the students have the choice of how to present their visuals I am allowing plenty of opportunity for creativity.
