Teacher's Page
This webquest is designed with fourth and fifth graders in  mind. It can be adapted to higher levels by making it a cross country adventure or lower grade levels by working as a class on the resources to make sure they are within everyone's reading level.
As an option, I have included a scaffolding flow chart students can print and fill in as they figure out the places in their journey. When printing the chart you will need to select the "Shrink to fit page" option. For students who have special challenges, you may want this to replace their road map. Scaffolding Chart

Suggestions and Comments for "I'm Lost" WebQuest
1. Go over the Scoring Guide with your students prior to beginning the quest so they know exactly what they will be scored on.
2. It is fine if students routes and answers are not all the same. The cities referred to may not be exclusive, meaning other cities may meet the same criteria. I suggest you have each group explain how they got their answer and why it meets all the "clues". If it fits, it is correct.
3. By going to the Missouri Tourism Department site (listed on the Resource page) and using the Search box to type in "Old Drum" students can get that answer. It may be available through other resources but I haven't found it elsewhere. Don't tell students this at the beginning but it may be a suggestion you want make if groups are struggling.
4. Really encourage the "add adventures" part and encourage students to select places along the route they chose as the settings for the adventures.
5. If you have difficulties with the answers or would like to suggest changes, feel free to contact the author of the webquest at : kuehnlej@emints.org

Presentation Suggestions
When students create their end product, you may want to guide them towards  various possibilities. I was thinking they could prepare and be guests on a David Letterman type show, where they are "on" to talk about their wild adventure. They could create a Travel Guide telling of their adventure through the wilds of Missouri or maybe they could do oral presentations to parents or another grade level. Be creative and allow them to do the same!
